The Sicily virtual + project proposes an innovative method for the dissemination of knowledge through three-dimensional images and augmented reality and allowing the open access sharing of a selection of sites and monuments of the rich Sicilian cultural heritage. The adoption of technologies for cultural use in presence and remotely enriches the appeal of the cultural offer of the Cultural Heritage Department.

The project strengthens the promotion and enhancement of the cultural heritage of the sites of Himera, Solunto and Iato through the use of a technological app that provides the visitor with the multimedia display of information elements relating to POIs; these can be chosen by the visitor in real time, indulging their curiosity and / or interests.

The project offered the possibility to use the contents both on-line and off-line. Furthermore, the facilitation of access to information through a simplified technology of very wide diffusion. And again access to documentary data (texts, photographic documentation, including vintage ones, bibliographic references, films) relating to the cultural heritage in question, otherwise difficult to find by the recipient users of the portal and application (tourists and visitors) both Italians and foreigners.

For Cultural Parks, the greatest advantage was being able to deal with the need to enhance some cultural sites of competence using new IT solutions compared to the simple official website, with the difficulty of having to communicate textual and visual contents with greater effectiveness and synthesis, that this has entailed.
